Jazzhus Montmartre – Copenhagen’s Legendary Jazz Club
April 25, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - April 27, 2019 @ 8:00 pm UTC+0

Alto player Charles McPherson’s fine sound played a leading role in Clint Eastwood’s excellent movie about the life of jazz-legend Charlie Parker, ”Bird”; providing the sound for actor Forest Whitaker’s brilliant performance as Parker. McPherson was for many years closely connected to jazz-legend Charles Mingus, and he was an often-used sideman when the authentic jazz-feeling was needed. McPherson also led own groups, always focusing on genuine and heartfelt swing – more than on a ground-breaking approach. His playing today contains the same values. Charles McPherson – now in his 80th year – still represents onrushing, physical and a devil-may-care musical expression, directly from the heart of jazz itself.
