SUMMARY:Jazzhus Montmartre - Copenhagen’s Legendary Jazz Club
DESCRIPTION:Alto player Charles McPherson’s fine sound played a leading role in Clint Eastwood’s excellent movie about the life of jazz-legend Charlie Parker\, ”Bird”; providing the sound for actor Forest Whitaker’s brilliant performance as Parker. McPherson was for many years closely connected to jazz-legend Charles Mingus\, and he was an often-used sideman when the authentic jazz-feeling was needed. McPherson also led own groups\, always focusing on genuine and heartfelt swing – more than on a ground-breaking approach. His playing today contains the same values. Charles McPherson – now in his 80th year – still represents onrushing\, physical and a devil-may-care musical expression\, directly from the heart of jazz itself. \nJazzhus Montmartre \nJazzhus Montmartre is the historic jazz hotspot of Copenhagen\, presenting world class live jazz at the original intimate venue where the famous club started back in 1959 at Store Regnegade 19A in the heart of the Danish capital. \nCharles McPherson – Saxophone\nRandy Porter – Piano\nMark Hodgson – Bass\nStephen Keogh – Drums
